A Visit from a Flock of Cedar Waxwings!

I often hear their familiar CALL and see them flying, but I don't often get a chance to photograph them.  They visit our birdbaths, but it seems as soon I as get my camera out they know and take flight.  What a treat this was for me.
This is how far away they were, I used my zoom to get the close-ups.  This is an old Avocado tree in my neighbors yard, the bottom of the tree is still alive.  I am so happy that they don't cut these dead branches off because it is a haven for the birds that live and visit here.

Close-up of Hummingbird at center top, House Finch bottom left and Cedar Waxwing on the right.

I love how this close-up view shows its mask!

A couple more House Finches.

  1. I love cedar waxwings, Carla! We had a crabapple tree in our front yard where I grew up and they knew just when those apples were ready and would descend on that tree and they were have them eaten in a second! Thanks for sharing. xo

    1. Nancy, we have one apple tree but with very few apples on it each year. Maybe the Waxwings are munching on them!

Thank you for stopping by, I will be over shortly to visit your blog and see what herbal adventures you are up to.

  2. I so agree with lemonverbenalady, I love cedar waxwings! I also had a crab tree in my front garden and when the tree was filled with birds, I could hardly leave the house to go to work, I would just stand at the front window watching them! Love your photos!!
